How We Define and Measure Rebuilding
Every metric the Institute for Women's Rebuilding reports has a clear definition, a documented source, and a verification status. We publish this methodology so our community can hold us accountable.
Our Reporting Principles
- Every metric has a definition. We never report a number without explaining exactly what it measures.
- Every figure has a source. We document where each number comes from and how it was collected.
- Every metric has a verification status. We label each figure as Verified, Pending verification, or Not yet reported. We never display unverified figures as if they were verified.
- We report what we actually measure. We do not extrapolate, estimate without disclosure, or count things that are not evidence of rebuilding.
- We are transparent about what we do not yet know. Gaps in our data are labeled honestly. Silence is not an answer — but neither is fabrication.
Metric Definitions
Woman reached
A woman who has participated in at least one Institute for Women's Rebuilding program, workshop, circle, retreat, assessment, or community event.
Verification: Program attendance records, event registration data, assessment completions.
Woman assessed
A woman who has completed the full Women's Rebuild Assessment (all 30 questions across 11 domains). Partial completions are not counted.
Verification: Assessment completion records with timestamp and domain coverage verification.
Woman enrolled
A woman who has registered for and begun an Institute for Women's Rebuilding program — a workshop, circle, retreat, or Rebuild Her module.
Verification: Enrollment records with confirmed program start.
Milestone achieved
A verified, measurable marker of rebuilding progress within a specific domain. Milestones are defined per program and per pathway. Examples: completing a financial literacy plan, securing stable housing, establishing a consistent self-care practice.
Verification: Program facilitator verification, self-report with documentation review.
Program completed
A woman who has fulfilled all requirements of an approved Institute for Women's Rebuilding program — including attendance, participation, and any required deliverables or assessments.
Verification: Program completion records verified by program facilitator.
Mentor match
A paired relationship between a trained Institute for Women's Rebuilding mentor and a woman participant, with a signed mentorship agreement and at least one documented session.
Verification: Mentorship agreement records, session logs.
Opportunity connection
A documented referral, introduction, or placement that connects a woman to employment, education, housing, healthcare, legal services, or other community resources.
Verification: Referral records, partner confirmation, participant follow-up.
Woman becoming a mentor
A program alumna who has completed mentor training and been matched with a new participant, giving back to the community that supported her rebuilding.
Verification: Mentor training completion, signed mentorship agreement, active match.
Woman rebuilt
A woman who has: (1) completed the Women's Rebuild Assessment, (2) completed an approved program, (3) reached at least three verified rebuilding milestones, (4) maintained active support system engagement, and (5) completed a follow-up outcome review no less than six months after program completion.
Verification: Composite verification — all five criteria independently verified. This is the highest standard in our impact framework and is not awarded lightly.
Reporting Schedule
1,000 Women Rebuilt progress dashboard update, program enrollment counts, milestone completions.
Comprehensive impact report including all verified metrics, program outcomes, financial summary, participant demographics (aggregated and anonymized), and narrative impact stories.
Program-specific completion and outcome data shared with program sponsors and funding partners.
How Data Is Collected
1. Program delivery
Data is collected at every program touchpoint: assessment completion, enrollment, attendance, milestone achievement, program completion, and follow-up.
2. Facilitator verification
Program facilitators verify milestone achievements and program completions before they enter the reporting pipeline.
3. Data review
The Impact team reviews all verified data on a quarterly cycle, checking for completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
4. Verification labeling
Each metric is assigned a verification status: Verified (independently confirmed), Pending verification (reported but not yet confirmed), or Not yet reported (no data available for this period).
5. Public reporting
Verified and pending-verification figures (clearly labeled) are published on the Impact Center dashboard. Unverified or incomplete figures are not published.
6. Annual audit
Annual impact data undergoes additional review. The first annual review will occur after the first full reporting year.
